Mayan Palace Acapulco takes pride in its efforts to protect the sea turtles that come from as far away as Japan to feed, grow and nest on the beach. Working with ecologists and local fisherman, the resort established the Sea Turtle Conservation Program to save the sea turtles from extinction. The program funds research, conducts workshops and shares knowledge with the other area hotels and resorts. Guests are invited to the seaside ceremony to return the baby turtles to the ocean. Standing at the shore, guests "adopt" a baby turtle and gently place it back into the sea.
