South Beach Inn was built in 1961 and remodeled in 1998. The Salt, sand and storms of the past 45 years, South Beach Inn is one of the last of South Padre Islands Originals. It is Located just half a block from the Gulf of Mexico, uniquely nestled among stylish homes in the quiet Residential Section of Beautiful South Padre Island.
South Beach Inn is a 12-unit hotel with a pool situated in a park-like setting on beautiful South Padre Island, Texas. Set back from the street, and hidden behind palm and sea grape trees, our semi-secluded property is only one-half block from the beach.
Originally built as the Sea Grape Motel in 1961, South Beach Inn stakes claim as one of the oldest on the Island. Some of guests have been coming here since they were young, and now visit each summer with their grandchildren. South Beach Inn boasts a relaxed family atmosphere that's both economical and fun. If you choose one of ground-floor kitchenettes, you can park at your back door, and the pool is out your front door. Then, with just a two-minute walk, you?re in the white sands and the waves of the Gulf of Mexico.
There are 10 ground floor, efficiency-style kitchenettes and 2 upper-level, one-bedroom suites to choose from. Each room can accommodate up to four people.
During the summer months, water sports such as scuba diving, snorkeling, jet ski rentals, banana boat rides, windsurfing and parasailing are available on the beach. Fishing is available at all times of the year either in the bay or deep-sea fishing offshore with a variety of experienced boat captains and fishing guides who supply you with gear as well.
Newport Beach Inn was built in 1879 during Newport's Gilded Age, and was once the home of the affluent physician, Dr. Steven Powell and his wife, Henrietta. Dr. Powell was a sea captain during the China Trade and oriental influences are evident throughout the house. For many years he served as the Commodore of the Newport Yacht Club. His love of the sea and sailing inspired him to name the house Mrs. Powell was originally from New Haven and was the great-granddaughter of Noah Webster (of dictionary fame). Today their home has found new life as one of Newport's most gracious inns.
The charming guest rooms have been named after favorite garden flowers, each offering its own romantic flavor and blooming with wonderful colors and fabrics too. Secondary themes prevail within the rooms as well, such as a hunt theme in the Ivy Room and a music theme in the Lily Room. The attention to detail adds an extra note of comfort and elegance. Guests are also drawn to the alluring atmosphere outside -- the back porch, gardens, gazebo and lily pond all invite leisure.
A generous continental breakfast is served daily and includes everything from freshly baked pastries, homemade granola, fruit salads, fresh-squeezed juices and specially blended coffee. On Sundays a hot entree is served as well such as a vegetable quiche, an egg casserole or blueberry stuffed french toast. Guests can also also help themselves to coffee and tea makings throughout the day in the guest pantry.
The location of the inn is ideal and very central to many of Newport's most popular sites, such as the Cliff Walk, the fabled Mansions, the beaches, and the historic harborfront. Outstanding shops and restaurants are all closeby.
