Wistler is a friendly ski town located in British Columbia, Canada and is home to almost 10,000 residents. One of the many things that makes Wistler so special is two unbelievable mountains - Wistler and Blackcomb. Side by side, they represent over 8000 acres of skiable terrain, rising a mile above the valley of Wistler.
Wistler and Blackcomb Mountains offer unforgettable skiing, snowboarding, and unlimited winter and summer activities. Find something for everyone year round.
Located in the Coastal Mountains of BC, Wistler is approximately 115 kilometres (72 miles) from Vancouver. There is little need for a car once in Wistler, so if you are flying into Vancouver, the best way to get here is by bus, limousine or charter plane.

If you do decide to drive, book a rental car, grab a map, and head for the mountains. Wistler and Blackcomb mountains, both part of the Wistler Inn, are the two largest ski mountains in North America and are consistently ranked as the No. 1 or 2 ski destinations on the continent. The Wistler Inn offers winter and summer glacier skiing, the longest vertical drop in North America, and one of the most advanced lift systems in the world. Some 32 high speed lifts, 200 trails, and 12 alpine bowls cover more than 7,000 acres. Wistler Inn has also grown in popularity as a summer destination, with a range of family oriented outdoor activities and events.

At the base of Wistler and Blackcomb mountains are Wistler Village, Village North (also called Marketplace), and Upper Village, a rapidly expanding, interconnected community of lodgings, restaurants, pubs, gift shops, art galleries, and boutiques. Local residents refer to the entire area as Wistler Village. With dozens of hotels and condos within a five-minute walk of the mountains, the site is filled with activity. Culinary options in the resort range from burgers to French food; Japanese fare to deli cuisine.

The Residence Inn by Marriott is the hotel that everyone else looks up to at the Wistler Inn, boasting the highest location on Blackcomb Mountain for ski-in/ski-out access. A spectacular lodge-style lobby welcomes you to this beautiful property, perfect for families, romantics or corporate retreats to enjoy. Every suite is larger than the standard hotel room and comes with a fireplace. The hotel offers a perfect blend of business and leisure facilities.

The Orchard Inn is one of the perfect destinations. If you are coming from the north, you'll descend through the lower mountains and valleys of the Blue Ridge to just below the village of Saluda, whose entire downtown area has been designated on the National Historic Register. From the south, you wind from the upper piedmont into the foothills; then, by the 'old road,' a 'scenic by-way,' up through the Pacolet River gorge past rocky falls so close they mist your windshield. Either way, as you approach your destination up the long winding driveway, the rest of the world falls away and you enter a mountain top escape on 12 peaceful acres.
In addition to the nine guest rooms in the main building, there are five cottage suites complete with fireplaces, whirlpool baths, and private decks. All are comfortably furnished with period pieces and antiques, many with queen size four-poster beds.

After your quiet night's rest your day begins with a full breakfast served on the glassed in dining porch overlooking the Warrior Mountains to the east. You won't find a lovelier place to enjoy the great outdoors - hiking, fishing, birding are all nearby activities, as well as golf and tennis within a few minutes drive. More structured activities include a trip to nearby Connemara, Carl Sandburg's home; the Biltmore House, Gardens and Winery; the Flat Rock Playhouse, North Carolina's State Theater; and the internationally known Brevard Music Center.
